How Does Complicated Grief Treatment Work?

Complicated grief treatment at NoVu Wellness in Atlanta uses a personalized, evidence-based, and holistic approach. It helps individuals cope with the overwhelming emotions and struggles associated with complicated grief. Our expert therapists use a combination of cognitive-behavioral techniques, mindfulness practices, relaxation exercises, and coping strategies to help clients process their loss, address any underlying issues contributing to their grief, and develop healthy ways of managing their feelings.

Through individual therapy sessions, we provide a safe space for them to express their thoughts and feelings openly while receiving guidance and support from our compassionate team. We also offer group therapy options for those who may benefit from connecting with others experiencing similar challenges.

Our ultimate goal is to guide our clients toward healing, self-discovery, and resilience as they navigate through the complex emotions of complicated grief. By empowering individuals with the tools they need to better understand themselves and honor their loved ones’ memories, we strive to help them find peace within themselves again.

How Is Grief Treated?

We offer a comprehensive approach to treating grief that addresses the emotional, mental, and physical aspects of healing. Our grief treatment programs may include:

  • Psychiatry & Medication Management: Our board-certified psychiatrists work with clients to assess their mental health needs and prescribe medication when necessary to address symptoms such as anxiety, depression, or sleep disturbances.
  • Psychotherapy: Individual and group therapy sessions provide a safe space for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings surrounding their loss while learning coping strategies and processing emotions in a healthy way.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): DBT techniques help individuals regulate emotions, develop distress tolerance skills, improve interpersonal relationships, and enhance mindfulness practices.
  • Brain Mapping: Brain mapping helps identify areas of brain activity related to grief responses and can guide personalized treatment plans tailored to each client’s unique needs.
  • Family Therapy: Involving loved ones in the therapeutic process can facilitate communication, rebuild connections disrupted by grief, and create understanding between family members about each other’s experiences with loss.
  • Holistic Therapy: Therapies such as yoga, meditation, and art therapy can complement traditional treatments by promoting relaxation, reducing stress, and enhancing overall well-being and healing.
